Junk mail is any unsolicited advertising, promotional material, or other forms of solicitation masquerading as an e-mail message. You may find that some junk mail contains information regarding sexually explicit Web sites or has attached files promising images intended for adult audiences. In addition to being a nuisance, this kind of junk mail can carry dangerous Trojan Horse programs. These programs come to your mailbox as e-mail attachments disguised as software, screen savers, or photos. If you mistakenly download one of these attachments, the Trojan Horse program captures your password and mails it back to the hacker's e-mail address. NEVER download files from someone you don't know!
WatchThatSpam! It could even be dangerous!
E-mail can help you get in touch with long lost friends, keep in touch with business contacts, and make friends all over the world. But as the Internet world grows, so do the problems of "junk" e-mail -- unsolicited, unwelcome and offensive e-mail. Hackers send viruses worlwide just for the fun of it, and these virus infections can disable your computer. Remember: if you don't know who sent the e-mail, don't download the attached file!
Don't ever give any personal information about yourself, or your family (especially your children!), to anyoneonline that you don't know. Make sure that all children in your household understand this too!
